San Francisco (CA), Fillmore

Here is my short review of Bungle @ San Francisco's Fillmore on 12/18. It was the last show of the tour:

Before melt banana came on, some melvins stuff was played. Melt Banana was very cool, and the crowd was very receptive and kind. I didn't hear anyone shouting "go back to japan" or anything like that.

Before Bungle, the Italian "The Horror Films Collection" was played (which was very cool-thanks Karl for giving the name; I'm going to have to go pick it up). The fisting tape was unfortunately not played. The songs Bungle played included:

  1. The Bends - Love on the Event Horizon
  2. "Cold World" (Siege)
  3. Chemical Marriage (40sec, 436K)
  4. Violenza Domestica
  5. 24,000 Baci (Adriano Celentano)
  6. The Bends - Panic in Blue
  7. Phlegmatics
  8. "Love in Space" (Peter Thomas)
  9. Ma Meeshka Mow Skwoz
  10. The Bends - Aqua Swing
  11. Desert Search for Techno Allah
  12. ? (Armando Trovaioli)
  13. Carry Stress in the Jaw
  14. "Loss For Words" (Corrosion For Conformity)
  15. Secret Song
  16. "La Lucertola" (Ennio Morricone)
  17. ( )
  18. Everyone I Went to High School with is Dead

The second to last song they played was a 25 minute noise piece that merged into Everyone I Went To High School With Is Dead

Melt Banana came out to play with them on this. Also I don't think they played the loverboy cover and I know nothing played from the first album.

In all there were two encores. I think it was at the beginning of the second encore, that Mike thanked some people (including windy) who without them, this tour would not have been impossible. Also, he thanked all the members of the band. All of the members of Bungle, including Mike, really seemed like they were enjoying themselves. Willie Winant was simply amazing! He makes the sound much more complete.

All in all, it was an excellent show and they played for probably 1:45-2 hrs. The only bad things, were of course, people were shouting for love is a fist, travolta, to play "a fucking song", and to even play the loverboy cover. While this was annoying, the thing that disturbed me the most was that people were actually moshing. I just don't understand why anyone would want to mosh at a bungle concert. You should be watching them perform.

Another thing to MAYBE look forward to is, that someone was right next to the stage video taping the whole concert (definitely done with the band's consent, since it was so close). Maybe this can hopefully turn into a boot.
